In the spirit of clean beauty, I made a little DIY face mask this morning and indulged myself after my chilly morning walk. This mask contains only three simple ingredients - avocado, almond meal, and honey. The avocado helps to moisturize and reduce inflammation, as well as gives your skin a healthy natural glow. The almond meal acts as a gentle exfoliator on dry skin, which is especially useful during the colder months of the year. And the honey is antibacterial, which is really good for both preventing and treating acne.
I literally pulled this together in a matter of two minutes, applied, waited for 15 minutes, and then hopped in the shower and washed it off. Bonus points that it smells so heavenly and fresh.
This recipe makes about two applications. The avocado will not keep well for very long, so I suggest sharing this experience with a friend or just saving it in an airtight container and using within a day or two. Or better yet, feel free to apply to other dry areas of your skin as well.
1/4 of an avocado, mashed with a fork
2 tablespoons of almond meal
1-2 tablespoons of honey
Mix everything together and apply. Easy as pie.
